Week 13 Top Ten

Due to some time constraints, this will be an abridged version of what happened over the weekend.

1) Oregon Ducks
Week 13 Result: Beat Colorado Buffaloes 44-10 at home
Last Week's Ranking: 1

The Ducks are pretty much a lock right now for the playoffs. They play Oregon State next week and will likely have a rematch against UCLA for the PAC-12 Championship. We know that this team can put up points, but I'm more interested in seeing how their defense plays come the playoffs. Can they stop a team like Alabama from running the ball down their throats? Will they be able to fend off Jameis or the mysterious fourth team in? That remains to be seen.

2) Alabama Crimson Tide
Week 13 Result: Beat Western Carolina Catamounts 48-14 at home
Last Week's Ranking: 2

Kirk Herbstreit called the SEC teams playing FCS teams in the second to last week "the worst thing in college football". I have to agree with him. Amari Cooper was hurt in this game, but by all expectations he should be ready to go next week against Auburn. I know Auburn has been slumping, but they will need him as you know Malzahn will bring his very best to this Iron Bowl match up.

3) Florida State Seminoles
Week 13 Result: Beat Boston College Golden Eagles 20-17 at home
Last Week's Ranking: 3

God, this team is so annoying. They consistently blue ball everybody by playing down to their competition, only to pull win after win out of their ass. I don't know if it will catch up to them before the playoffs, but I really do think there are a few teams that could beat the Seminoles on a neutral site.

4) TCU Horned Frogs
Week 13 Result: Bye Week
Last Week's Ranking: 4

5) Baylor Bears
Week 13 Result: Beat Oklahoma State Cowboys 49-28 at home
Last Week's Ranking: 5

We wont' know until tomorrow night what Baylor will be ranked by the committee. Baylor or TCU is going to be debated constantly down the stretch, but they do hold the edge in the head to head. All they can really do is win convincingly since the BIG 12 doesn't have a championship game.

6) Ohio State Buckeyes
Week 13 Result: Beat Indiana Hoosiers 42-27 at home
Last Week's Ranking: 6

Ohio State has won the last two games in sloppy fashion after destroying Michigan State only a few weeks before. They've secured a spot in the BIG-10 Championship Game where they will likely play Wisconsin. If their offense doesn't get out of this rut and improve their run defense, Wisconsin could be a bit of a nightmare scenario for a young team.

7) Mississippi State Bulldogs
Week 13 Result: Beat Vanderbilt Commodores 51-0 at home
Last Week's Ranking: 7

Mississippi State should have no problem taking care of Ole Miss next week. They were embarrassed by Arkansas last week as they were completely shut out and turned the ball over six times. The real team they need to root for this week is Auburn to pull a miracle win at Tuscaloosa.

8) Michigan State Spartans
Week 13 Result: Beat Rutgers Scarlet Knights 45-3 at home
Last Week's Ranking: 8

Playing for a respectable bowl game. They should be able to secure another double digit season in Happy Valley.

9) Georgia Bulldogs
Week 13 Result: Beat Charleston Southern Buccaneers 55-9 at home
Last Week's Ranking: 9

Like Mississippi State, Georgia has to hope that another team can take care of business to give them a boost. If Arkansas beats Mizzou, Georgia would go to the SEC Championship Game by virtue of the head to head win. Providing they can take care of business against Georgia Tech's triple option.

10) Wisconsin Badgers
Week 13 Result: Beat Iowa Hawkeyes 26-24 in Iowa City
Last Week's Ranking: 10

Melvin Gordon had another great game to propel is team and keep them in the running for the B1G West. They should beat able to get past Minnesota this week and would be well on their way to a game against the Buckeyes.
